报告摘要:
This presentation is a brief summarization of the research works which were done in the University of Albertaand University of Duisburg-Essen during the last four years. In this presentation, a gentle introduction to Bayesian estimation is given to show its essence and under what circumstances it is attractive to use Bayesian estimation. Then, we will go a little deeper and show how to solve our Engineering problems based on the Bayesian theory. In this part, the traditional filtering problem and sensor diagnosis problem will be taken as two representative examples. Finally, two successful industrial applications will be introduced. The first one is about the level detection in Primary Separation Vessel, which is an important component in oil-sand industry. In this case, a computer vision system will be built and we will see how the Bayesian theory works on an image and how to apply the popular convolutional neural networks in a real industry plant. The other one is about the Causality Analysis, which gives an example against Bayesian theory but serves as a powerful tool for tracking root of faults.
